Act 1 Scene 4
[Scene outside Fosters, J walking around…]
Lonely Man
Lonely man walking the rails tonight,
His arms are heavy and his belly’s tight,
As he dreams of a girl. He used to know.
He carries in his head her photograph.
And the tape recordings of the sound of her laugh
And the look in her eye. When she said no.
Lonely man you look a lot like me
Lonely man you look like me
In another time, in another place
Nothing softer than his angel’s face
As he brushed away a tear. That he put there.
Got no peace of mind, he’s got no peace of soul
There’s no soft woman for him to hold
But he keeps on trying, it’s all he knows.
Lonely man you look a lot like me
Lonely man you look like me
Lonely man walking the rails tonight,
His arms are heavy and his belly’s tight,
As he dreams of a girl. He used to know.
He carries in his head her photograph.
And the tape recordings of the sound of her laugh
And the look in her eye. When she said no.
